GoHealth Urgent Care Names Betsy Koickel, M.D, as Chief Medical Officer
GoHealth Urgent Care has named clinical leader Betsy Koickel, M.D., as its new chief medical officer. Dr. Koickel has worked with GoHealth since 2015, most recently serving as medical director of Memorial Hermann-GoHealth Urgent Care in Houston, Texas. Having practiced medicine for 15 years, Dr. Koickel honed her expertise in both acute care and women’s health.

Dr. Koickel will assume her new duties as chief medical officer of GoHealth in August 2024. In this role, she will serve as the clinical liaison between GoHealth and all joint-venture health system partners. Working collaboratively, Dr. Koickel will support the needs of clinical leadership teams across 11 markets, ensuring that providers receive guidance, education and training to maintain exceptional levels of care, efficiency and patient satisfaction.
Dr. Koickel became affiliated with GoHealth in 2015 as a provider at the Northwell Health-GoHealth center in Levittown, N.Y. She helped build that location into one of the network's busiest centers, with consistently high patient satisfaction scores. Dr. Koickel then became an associate medical director of Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care in 2019, overseeing 14 centers in Suffolk County, N.Y. She led that team through the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, Dr. Koickel was named medical director of Memorial Hermann-GoHealth in the Greater Houston Area.

Dr. Koickel is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She received a medical doctorate from the Medical University of the Americas in Nevis, West Indies. She completed her residency in family medicine at United Health Services in Binghamton, N.Y. Dr. Koickel received her bachelor’s in science from Binghamton University, State University of New York (SUNY), majoring in psychology and biology.
