The amount of time it takes to get the results of a blood test will depend on the type of test. Most results are available in 24-72 hours.

How much does a blood test cost?

The cost of a blood test will depend on your insurance and the type of test you need. The cost can range from $50-$1,000 without insurance.

Is there a rapid blood test for pregnancy?

Yes, there are rapid blood tests for pregnancy that can test for hCG levels, a hormone that indicates pregnancy. Our urgent care centers do not offer rapid blood tests for pregnancy, but we do have urine pregnancy tests that provide results in five minutes. If you need a pregnancy blood test, we will need to send it to the lab for testing results.

What illnesses can a blood test detect?

Blood tests are one part of the puzzle when diagnosing a specific illness. An evaluation of your medical history, symptoms and a physical exam may also be required to confirm a diagnosis.

Does urgent care test for diabetes?

We typically do not test people for diabetes without a cause. If your healthcare provider determines that you need further testing for diabetes, we can test your blood sugar, HbA1C and other markers. We can refer you to your primary healthcare provider for further follow-up.

The on-site lab provides the option for quick care tests and rapid results. With conveniently located centers near local pharmacies, you can be seen, get your lab work and pick up any prescribed medication without taking an extra trip.

Many of the lab tests offer results while you wait or are available for review within 24-72 hours in the online patient portal.

What types of tests provide rapid results?

Many of the centers can provide lab results within 15 minutes for the following tests:

Strep Test
COVID-19 Test
Flu Test
Pregnancy Test
Mono Test
Urine Analysis (For infections like UTIs or STDs)
Glucose Test (Blood Sugar)

If labs need to be sent out for results, the care team will follow up with you within a few days with the results. You can also find results on your patient portal. We also offer PPD skin tests for tuberculosis at most of the centers, but these results are not rapid.

Test for tuberculosis

Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection that can cause a high fever, trouble breathing and other potentially life-threatening symptoms. Healthcare workers, those who are immune compromised or have been directly exposed to someone with an active infection, are at risk.

You must get tested immediately if you believe you have been exposed to tuberculosis. Tuberculosis testing requires either a skin test, called a PPD test, or a blood test. While some of the urgent care centers offer TB testing, most require that you visit a specialized lab. If you are concerned about TB exposure, speak with a healthcare provider who can provide a referral to a lab that does this type of testing.

Does insurance cover lab testing?

We are in-network with most insurance providers, but the type of lab testing covered by your insurance will depend on your plan and coverage. If you have any questions, it is best to call your insurance provider.
